The event was co‑hosted by the China Textile Engineering Society, the School of Aerospace Science of the National University of Defense Technology, and the National Key Laboratory of New Textile Materials and Advanced Processing, with the Sub‑Committee on High‑Performance Inorganic Fibers and Products of the China Textile Engineering Society serving as the organizer. The conference was chaired by Liu Haitao, Director of the National Key Laboratory of Novel Ceramic Fibers and Their Composites at the National University of Defense Technology, and brought together more than 140 participants, including experts and enterprise representatives from across the country in the field of inorganic fibers.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, a ceremony was held to appoint new deputy directors and members to the High-Performance Inorganic Fibers and Products Professional Committee of the 27th Council of the China Textile Engineering Society.
During the special report session, Professor Gao Chao of Zhejiang University, Professor Xiong Xiang of Central South University, Professor Chen Fengxiang of Wuhan Textile University, Associate Researcher Shao Changwei of the National University of Defense Technology, Professor Zheng Shijian, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Hebei University of Technology, and Mr. Ma Xiaomin, General Manager of Guozhuang New Materials Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., each delivered presentations titled “The Invention of Graphene Fibers and Exploration of High‑Performance Enhancement,” “Research on Key Fabrication Technologies for Nuclear‑Grade SiCf/SiC Composite Tubular Components,” “Development and Application of High‑Performance Colored Inorganic Fiber Materials,” “Recent Advances in High‑Performance Continuous Ceramic Fibers,” “Interface Toughening of Metallic Materials,” and “Key Technological Research and Cutting‑Edge Applications of Third‑Generation Continuous Alumina Fibers,” respectively.
Concurrently with the conference, the 27th Council of the China Textile Engineering Society convened a working meeting of the Specialized Committee on High‑Performance Inorganic Fibers and Products, chaired by Bai Meng, Vice President of the China Textile Engineering Society and Secretary-General of the Specialized Committee. The participating committee members engaged in in-depth discussions on key issues such as focusing on common, critical technological challenges facing the industry and establishing joint R&D mechanisms; vigorously advancing the development of civilian‑use products based on high‑performance inorganic fibers; and building a standards system in this field. They also offered constructive suggestions and proposals to support the national strategy for building a strong country, thereby reaching broad consensus.

Silicon carbide fiber-reinforced composites can be classified according to the ceramic matrix and the type of reinforcing fibers. Among them, continuous silicon carbide fiber-reinforced silicon carbide ceramic matrix composites (SiC/SiC) are currently recognized internationally as one of the most promising materials for high-temperature engine structural applications.
In 1975, the Yajima group at Tohoku University in Japan synthesized continuous SiC fibers with diameters of approximately 10 μm, using polycarbosilane as the precursor. Shortly after Japan’s successful development of SiC fibers, China recognized the material’s potential applications and initiated efforts to establish a technological R&D framework for silicon carbide fibers, embarking on a journey of independent innovation.
The company has successfully scaled up the production of first-, second-, and third-generation continuous silicon carbide fibers by leveraging its proprietary electron-beam‑assisted active‑atmosphere crosslinking technology, with the resulting products achieving performance levels on par with international best practices. With all key technologies and equipment fully under domestic control, this milestone marks a critical step forward for China in the field of high‑performance continuous ceramic fibers.
